Women's Swimming/Diving Takes Second At PSU Open; Six Compete in Minnesota

PSU OPEN RESULTS l MINNESOTA PRO SERIES RESULTS
A pair of Tiger freshmen were among several impressive performers for the Princeton women's swimming and diving team at the 2015 Penn State Open. Lindsey Swartz picked up the team's lone victory by winning the 200 breast in 2:21.89, while Monica McGrath had three Top-3 finishes for the Tigers.
Penn State won the meet with 1094 points, while Princeton finished second with 993. Connecticut rounded out the field with 860 points.
McGrath took second in the 200 free (1:53.07), and she took third in both the 500 (4:57.22) and the mile (17:08.37); classmate Elaina Gu placed fourth in the mile in 17:23.14.
Senior tri-captain Nikki Larson took second in the 100 free (51.97), third in the 100 fly (55.57), and she finished fifth in the 50 free (23.74), while fellow tri-captain Beverly Nguyen finished second in the 200 fly (2:03.98), and she took fifth in the 400 IM (4:26.07). Senior Liz McDonald also finished third in the 200 fly (2:05.47), and she took fourth in the 100 fly (56.58).
Junior Olivia Chan took fifth in the 100 breast in 1:06.74, while senior Sada Stewart finished fifth in the 200 back in 2:03.82. Sophomore Madelyn Veith took third in the 100 free (52.17).
Princeton was without several of its top swimmers for the PSU Open, as Claire McIlmail, Alisabeth Marsteller, Lindsay Temple, Isabel Reis, Elsa Welshofer, and Janet Zhao all competed in the Minnesota Pro Series meet, which brought together some of the nation's top swimmers.
