Men's Tennis to Compete in LSU Fall Invitational
November 05, 2015 | Men's Tennis
As the fall season moves toward its close, the Princeton men's tennis team will head to its penultimate tournament before the break beginning Thursday at Louisiana State, where all 11 Tigers figure to see matches.
The Tigers will face players from Texas A&M and host LSU beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern Thursday for five doubles and six singles matches, and Princeton's players will face those from Mississippi, Tulane, Rice and Denver later in the weekend before the event wraps Sunday. Play will begin at 10 a.m. ET on each of the final three days of the tournament.
Those six schools combined for 11 players on the ITA's preseason top-125 singles list, with three apiece from LSU and Texas A&M, two from Denver and one from Tulane. Each of the opponent schools also has one doubles pair in the ITA's top 60.
Princeton will enter the event after having a week off from competition following a run at the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional at Yale that ended with Alex Day and Luke Gamble in the doubles semifinals and Diego Vives in the singles quarterfinals.
While Princeton has taken part in five tournaments already this fall, just one more will remain after the LSU tournament. The Tigers will close their fall season with the Lakewood Ranch Invitational in Sarasota, Fla., next weekend.
