PRINCETON, N.J. (11/5/15) - The Princeton men's soccer team travels to Penn on Saturday for a 7:30 p.m., game - marking the final away game of the regular season.
The Tigers are coming off of a 4-0 shutout of Drexel on Tuesday evening, which improves Princeton's record to 8-5-2. In the Ivy League, the squad is 1-3-1. Senior Thomas Sanner has 26 points on 11 goals and four assists. He ranks seventh in the NCAA in points per game and eighth in goals per game - leading the Ivy League in both categories as well. Behind him is senior Brendan McSherry with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Sophomore Daniel Bowkett and senior Nico Hurtado add 10 points apiece with each scoring three goals and four assists. Senior Josh Miller adds nine points from the back line, while Jeremy Colvin leads the rookies in scoring with eight points. Senior Ben Hummel is 7-5-2 in goal with a 1.63 goals against average and a .681 save percentage. Junior Josh Haberman has started in three games, earned the shutout on Tuesday and has stopped all four shots he has faced in just under 200 minutes.
Penn holds a four-game edge in the series, 47-43-9 since it began more than 100 years ago. Princeton took last year's game, a 3-2 win at home - while Penn has won the last two games at Rhodes Field both by 2-1 decisions in 2013 and 2011.
Penn is 3-9-2 overall and is 1-3-1 in the Ivy League. The Quakers most recently defeated West Virginia, 3-2 in overtime - ironically the same score as Princeton put up on the Mountaineers. In the league, Penn defeated Cornell, tied Yale and lost to Columbia, Dartmouth and Brown. Joe Swenson and Sam Wancowicz are the team leaders in points with five each. Both have scored twice and add one assist. Alec Neumann and Jerel Blades have each tallied two goals. The Quakers have utilized three goalkeepers this season, with each playing more than 385 minutes. Nick Savino has the most time, playing in six games with a 1.50 GAA and a .654 save percentage. Max Polkinhorne has started in five games and owns a .767 save percentage and a 1.64 GAA, while Etan Mabourakh's numbers are very similar at 1.61 and .767 in his five appearances.
