Sacred Heart Duals Next Up for Fencers Sunday
December 03, 2015 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
Princeton's fencing teams will continue their seasons Sunday at Sacred Heart's Tradition Multi-Meet, where the Tigers will square off against Sacred Heart, NYU, Vassar and Penn State.
Both teams got their start two weekends ago at Penn's Elite Invitational, where the men beat NJIT and North Carolina while losing to Ohio State, Columbia and Notre Dame and the women beat Northwestern, North Carolina, NJIT and Johns Hopkins while losing to Columbia and Notre Dame.
The Sacred Heart duals will be Princeton's last day of competition until the Northwestern Duals on the final weekend of January.
Among Princeton and its competitors Sunday, the Tigers and Penn State were the only teams ranked in CollegeFencing360's final poll of last season, with Princeton's men eighth and Penn State's second, and Princeton's women third and Penn State's fifth. Penn State's teams combined to finish second at the NCAA championships last season, two spots in front of Princeton.
The Sacred Heart meet has been a successful one for Princeton, which competed in the event in 2010 (5-0 men, 4-1 women), 2013 (3-1 men, 4-0 women) and 2014 (4-0 men, 4-0 women).
The Tigers will take on Sacred Heart at 10 a.m., NYU at 11 a.m., Vassar at 2 p.m. and Penn State at 3 p.m.
