Dudas Shares Inaugural Ivy League Coach of the Year Award
February 12, 2015 | Women's Fencing
Zoltan Dudas, Princeton's ninth-year fencing coach, has been named as one of two recipients of the Ivy League Coach of the Year for women's fencing, the league announced Thursday.
The award is in its first season and is voted on by the league's coaches.
Princeton's women entered the 2015 Ivy League Round-Robins last weekend as five-time defending champions, but Columbia ended Princeton's run as the Tigers finished 4-2. Dudas shares the award with Columbia head coach Michael Aufrichtig.
Dudas, who took over the men's and women's fencing programs in 2006, is the all-time winningest coach in women's program history, having amassed 188 dual-match wins overall and 42 at the Ivy League Round-Robins. Princeton had a 32-match win streak at the Ivy meet that dated back to 2009 snapped last weekend.
Princeton had four All-Ivy League women's honorees this year, including junior épée Anna Van Brummen, who finished 17-0 to earn first-team honors. Junior saber Desirae Major, senior foil Sharon Gao and junior épée Isabel Ford all won second-team All-Ivy recognition.
