Volleyball Caps Perfect Weekend With 3-0 Sweep Of Sacred Heart

Princeton improved to 3-0 in the EIVA and ran its win streak to four Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Sacred Heart. After controlling play through much of the first two sets, the Tigers used strong play late to close the sweep.
Princeton got another dominant effort from senior Cody Kessel, who recorded 16 kills, six digs and four blocks while hitting .481 in the 25-13, 25-20, 27-25 win over the Pioneers. Kessel also had one service ace, though it came on match ball to keep the Tigers unbeaten in league play.
Sacred Heart led by as much as 15-8 in the third set and earned a set ball at 24-23, but a trio block by Kessel, Junior Oboh and Michael Bagnell evened the set at 24-24. Princeton eventually got it to 26-25 on a Kessel kill, and then he added his lone ace to earn the win.
Junior Devin Stearns had six kills and three blocks, while Oboh had five kills and six blocks in the victory. Fellow middle Will Siroky recorded four kills on only five swings and had a match-best eight blocks. Sophomore Chris Kennedy added 28 assists, while Kessel led all Princeton players with six digs.
