If you're looking to see the Princeton women's tennis team compete at home before the Ivy League season begins, this is your chance.
Princeton's sole non-conference home match will come Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Jadwin Gym when the Tigers and Rutgers get together for the 35th straight season.
The Tigers hold a 33-2 advantage in the series, with Rutgers' only wins coming in 1995 and 1996. Princeton has won 18 straight over Rutgers with each of the last six meetings taking place at Princeton. The Tigers have won 13 straight over the Scarlet Knights at home, with the last home loss coming in 1996. Princeton defeated Rutgers last year 6-1, with every Tiger player who competed in the match returning.
This season, Princeton opened with five defeats, all against fellow ITA-ranked teams, before closing ECAC Championship play with a 4-0 win over Cornell on Feb. 8 in the team's last match.
Rutgers returns four of its six singles players and two of its three doubles teams from last year's match. The Scarlet Knights have wins over Fairleigh Dickinson and Army around a loss to Temple. The Princeton match is Rutgers' third-to-last contest before opening Big Ten play at Maryland on Feb. 28.
Princeton will head to Alabama for the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic beginning Friday. Though the draw has yet to be announced, Princeton will join Alabama, Boise State, DePaul, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Tulane and Yale in the field.
