February 17, 2015 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
Princeton's final weekend of competition before the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional will send the south to Philadelphia for the Temple Duals Saturday before heading north to Madison, New Jersey and the National Squad Championships Sunday at Drew University.
Saturday at Temple, Princeton will face Brown at 9 a.m., Temple (women) and Stevens (men) at 10:30 a.m., Penn State at noon, Penn at 2 p.m. and St. John's at 3:30 p.m. in dual matches. Princeton's women enter the weekend ranked third in the nation, ahead of No. 6 Penn State, No. 8 Penn, No. 9 St. John's and No. 10 Temple. The men are eighth, behind No. 1 Penn State, No. 6 St. John's and No. 7 Penn.
Princeton has competed in the event the last three years, winning at least two weapon titles each time. Women's épée and women's saber have won the title each of the last three years, while both foil squads were also winners last year.
Joining Princeton at the event will be Penn, Yale, Sacred Heart, Brandeis, NYU, Vassar, Stevens Tech and FDU-Florham. Competition will begin at 9 a.m., and the event has a unique format compared to 27-match duals. Each weapon will fence another school to 45 touches with fencers changing at each five-touch interval.
Princeton will have the final weekend of February off before competing at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional at Duke on March 7.
