• Princeton will try to conquer its longest Ivy road losing streak this weekend. The Tigers last won at Harvard's Lavietes Pavilion in 2010. Since, the Tigers have lost by 12, 3, 12, and 6 points at Harvard. Princeton was swept on the Harvard-Dartmouth trip last season for the first time since 2008, seeing a five-year win streak at Leede Arena snapped. Yale is the only other Ivy arena in which Princeton has not won in either of its last two visits, having lost its last three visits to Lee Amphitheater.
• Princeton's Ivy title hopes were hampered with Saturday night's loss to Yale, putting Princeton at three losses and two-and-a-half games behind co-leaders Harvard and Yale. Princeton will see each of those teams over the next two weekends, but the Tigers will also need Harvard and Yale to take at least one more loss for Princeton to be a title contender even if the Tigers win out.
• Amir Bell enters Saturday co-leading Princeton in assists, with 60, alongside Spencer Weisz. If Bell finishes the season leading the team in assists, he'd be the first freshman to lead the team in that category since 2006-07, when Marcus Schroeder '10 had a team-best 87 helpers.
• It sounds simple enough, but when the Tigers win, they've made shots, defended and gotten to the free throw line. Princeton has not done those things as well in losses. In wins, Princeton shoots .490 from the field and allows opponents .418, makes nine 3-pointers (.415) and allows four (.275), and averages 17 of 23 from the line while opponents average 10 of 16 from the free throw line. In losses, Princeton shoots .422 from the field but allows .459, makes eight 3-pointers and hits at a .346 clip while allowing seven but at a .466 clip, and averages 13 of 18 from the line while opponents average 20 of 28.
• The Tigers take 47 percent of their field goal tries from beyond the arc and have taken 534 total 3-point attempts this year. A year ago, Princeton rolled past the previous record of 681, set by Mitch Henderson's senior-year team in 1998, hoisting 774 3s last season.
• The Tigers have turned the ball over fewer times than their opponents in nine of the last 12 games after doing so only five times in the first 11 games. Perhaps not coincidentally, Princeton is 8-4 in the last 11 games after a 3-8 start.
• Princeton has made more 3-pointers than its opponent in 12 of the last 16 games after doing so in just two of the first seven games. The Tigers were 2-5 over the first seven, 9-7 over the last 16. Princeton has made at least 10 3-pointers in seven of the last 16 games after doing so in only one of the first seven games.
• The change in year has been a positive change for the Tigers during Mitch Henderson's tenure. In the pre-New Year portion of Henderson's four seasons, the Tigers have a record of 27-25 for a .519 winning percentage. From New Year's Day forward, the Tigers under Henderson are 42-19 with a .689 winning percentage.
• Princeton split the home weekend against Harvard and Dartmouth last month despite shooting close to 50 percent from the field in each game. Princeton's 75-72 loss to Harvard came in a game in which Princeton outshot the Crimson 48 percent to 45 percent, but Harvard made 7 of 14 3s (Princeton was 10 of 26), outrebounded Princeton 35-28 and turned the ball over two fewer times, 12-10. The next night against Dartmouth, the Big Green outshot Princeton 49 percent to 48 percent but went 0 of 9 from 3-point range (Princeton went 7 of 20). Princeton outrebounded the Big Green by one and had one fewer turnover.
• Princeton leads the Ivy in field goal percentage (.453), turnover margin (+0.78/game), and defensive rebounding percentage (.733).
• Princeton's probable starting lineup includes no seniors, but junior Hans Brase, sophomores Steven Cook, Spencer Weisz and Pete Miller, and freshman Amir Bell. Harvard starts two seniors in Steve Moundou-Missi and Wesley Saunders and started another in Kenyatta Smith before he missed seven games due to injury (Smith appeared briefly in last Saturday's game vs. Cornell). Dartmouth starts two seniors in John Golden and Gabas Maldunas.
• Princeton is 11-7 when scoring 28 points by halftime and 0-5 when it does not. The Tigers are 8-3 when scoring at least 69 points and 2-9 when they do not. The Tigers are 10-3 when holding opponents below 67 points but 1-9 when foes reach 67.
• Princeton is 11-3 when holding opponents below 41 percent from 3-point range and 0-9 when opponents make at least 41 percent of their 3-point tries.
• The Tigers are 8-2 when getting at least 13 turnovers from opponents and 3-10 when opponents turn the ball over fewer than 13 times.
• Through Monday's games, Princeton ranked 19th in the nation in 3s per game at 8.8. The team ranked in the national top 100 in eight statistical categories, with its next-highest ranking at 26th in fewest turnovers at 272. Between them, Hans Brase, Pete Miller, Spencer Weisz and Steven Cook were included in the national rankings (approximately the national top 250 players in each category) 13 times. Hans Brase had the highest ranking, at 35th in defensive rebounds per game (6.2), while Steven Cook was also in the top 100 with a 76th-best 1.82 steals per game and Brase had a 96th-best 7.6 rebounds per game.
• Princeton's top five scorers on average are non-seniors, including sophomore Spencer Weisz, junior Hans Brase, freshman Amir Bell and sophomores Steven Cook and Pete Miller. The last time the Tigers finished the season with no seniors among the top five in scoring was 2009-10, when sophomore Douglas Davis, junior Dan Mavraides, freshman Ian Hummer, junior Kareem Maddox and sophomore Patrick Saunders were in the top five.
• While seniors Ben Hazel and Clay Wilson are regular rotation players, seniors have accounted for just 17 percent of minutes and 14.8 percent of the points this season on the whole.
• Sophomore Spencer Weisz is leading the team in scoring at 12 ppg, 12 points in front of junior Hans Brase. The last sophomore (or younger) to end the season leading the team in scoring was in the 2009-10 season when Douglas Davis '12 averaged 12.7 ppg. Since: Kareem Maddox '11 in 2010-11, Ian Hummer '13 in 2011-12 and 2012-13, and T.J. Bray '14 in 2013-14.
• In 58 Ivy League seasons, Princeton has posted 52 winning Ivy seasons, four 7-7 finishes and just two losing records.
![]() |
• Dartmouth leads the Ivy in steals at 7.6 spg and Alex Mitola is the league's top free throw shooter by percentage at .885 and in minutes per game at 34.8.
• Dartmouth has four top-100 national statistical rankings through Monday's games with a 51st-best 7.6 steals per game. Alex Mitola, Gabas Maldunas, Malik Gill and Miles Wright combined for 14 top-250 national statistical rankings, led by Mitola's 57th-best .377 3FG percentage.
• Harvard is already the first Ivy team to win four straight league titles since Penn from 1993-96 and is trying to become the first to win five straight since Penn from 1978-82.
• The Crimson lead the Ivy in scoring defense (57.1 ppg allowed) and blocked shots (5.1 bpg). Siyani Chambers leads the league in assists per game at 4.4 and Wesley Saunders leads in steals per game at 2.0.
• Through Monday's games, Harvard ranked second in the nation in fewest fouls, with 344. The team is in the top 100 in 15 statistical categories, with its 57.1 ppg allowed ranking 11th. Individually, Wesley Saunders, Corbin Miller, Steve Moundou-Missi and Siyani Chambers have 25 top-250 statistical rankings between them, with Chambers' 4.4 assists per game ranking 77th.

| Mitch Henderson '98 is in his fourth season as Princeton's head coach. His overall record at Princeton is 69-44. Under Henderson, Princeton is 39-11 at home, 32-17 in the Ivy League, and 21-5 in the Ivy League at home. Princeton is 55-14 when leading at the half under Henderson. Henderson is the first Princeton coach since John Thompson III '88 (2000-04) to have winning seasons in each of his first three campaigns. He is the sixth Princeton coach to accomplish that, following Frederick Luehring (1912-20), Butch van Breda Kolff '44 (1962-67), Pete Carril (1967-96), Bill Carmody (1996-2000) and Thompson III '88 (2000-04). Henderson is in seventh place on the Princeton all-time wins list, having surpassed John Thompson III '88 with the win over Brown on Feb. 13, 2014. Bill Carmody, who was a Princeton assistant for Henderson's first two seasons and head coach for Henderson's last two, is in sixth place with 92 wins. Carmody hired Henderson as an assistant coach at Northwestern in 2000, where Henderson remained for 11 seasons until coming to Princeton. Henderson was a second-team All-Ivy Leaguer in 1998, an honorable mention All-Ivy Leaguer in 1997, and was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week in 1994-95. Henderson graduated as the fourth-leading assist man in program history (kept since 1974-75) and is now sixth, having been surpassed by two of his players, Ian Hummer '13 and T.J. Bray '14. Henderson graduated fifth in career steals (kept since 1974-75) and is now ninth, having been passed by former teammate Gabe Lewullis '99, current San Diego Padre Will Venable '05, Marcus Schroeder '10 and his former player T.J. Bray '14. Henderson is one of six Princeton alumni who are current Division I head coaches, including John Thompson III '88 (Georgetown), Joe Scott '87 (Denver), Mike Brennan '94 (American), Chris Mooney '94 (Richmond) and Sydney Johnson '97 (Fairfield). |
