Women's Track & Field Closes Out First Day at Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. – Behind several strong performances, the Princeton University women's track & field team closed out the first day of competition at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup hosted by Penn State University.
Princeton's distance medley relay team of Rachael Chacko, Mattie Baron, Rachel Skokowski and Melinda Renuart earned three points for the Tigers thanks to a sixth-place showing (11:56.10). In the 5000m run, the Orange and Black picked up four more points thanks to Erika Fluehr's fifth-place finish (16:56.66).
In the pole vault, Allison Harris also earned three points for the Tigers. Clearing 3.76m (12-04.00), Harris edged out Cornell's Eve Bishop for sixth overall.
Unleashing the second-best toss in the first flight, Brielle Rowe ultimately placed 10th in the weight throw with a mark of 14.78 (48-06.00). Teammate Kennedy O'Dell was 16th overall at 14.35m (47-01.00).
Sara Ronde turned in Princeton's best mark in the long jump, coming in 14th at 5.32m (17-05.50). Alex Lanzafame was 18th at 5.21m (17-01.25).
Taylor Morgan had the Tigers' best showing in the 60-meter hurdles, placing 12th overall in the prelims with a time of 9:07. Christina Walter narrowly missed out on qualifying for the finals of the 60-meter dash, posting the 11th-best time of the preliminary round at 7.80.
At Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational, Megan Curham was the runner-up in the 5,000m run. Beating out Eastern Michigan's Jordann McDermitt, Curham posted a time of 16:24.53. The Fighting Irish's Molly Seidel won the event with a time of 16:10.95.
The Tigers will return to action for the second day of the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup on Saturday, Feb. 7.
