It was a scoring drought that just couldn't be ended, fed by missed front-ends of 1-and-1 chances and turnovers at key moments, and Cornell was only happy to help it along. For the first 30-plus minutes, Princeton was 15 of 36 from the field and looked headed for a sweep of the Cornell-Columbia road weekend for a third straight year. Hazel finished with a game-high 18 points and Steven Cook was the only other Tiger to join him in double figures, with 11. |

Even without scoring for six-plus minutes at the time, Princeton was still very much in the game when the Big Red's Pat Smith drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key to keep the Newman Arena crowd ignited and give Cornell a 58-52 lead with 1:54 left. Cornell had been chipping away at Princeton's lead through drives to the rim and free throws, but the 3-pointer from Smith was an exclamation point during Cornell's run. |
