STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Closing out the second and final day of competition, the Princeton University women's track & field team placed third at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup hosted by Penn State University.
Winning the 600m run, Kim Mackay turned in a time of 1:31.72. The second runner to cross the finish line, Meghan McMullin clocked in at 1:33.94. teammate Emily Broyles finished 10th with a time of 1:36.85. In the 3000m run, Emily de La Bruyere also rose to the top of the podium with a time of 9:43.75.
Zoe Sims was the runner-up in the 800m run, finishing just four tenths of a second behind Penn's Gina Alm with a time of 2:12.97. Ashley Forte came in 12th at 2:14.75.
Kaitlin Hanss led a strong Princeton effort in the mile run, placing second overall with a time of 4:48.88. Lizzie Bird notched three more points with a sixth-place showing (4:54.84), while de La Bruyere and Ally Markovich were eighth (4:55.26) and ninth (4:56.61), respectively. Melinda Renuart posted the 11th-best time, finishing in 5:01.09.
In the 400m dash, Cecilia Barowski earned eight points for Princeton by finishing second overall. Clocking in at 55.24, Barowski edged out Penn State's Tichina Rhodes by just over three tenths of a second. Elisa Steele came in eighth overall with a time of 56.74.
Steele, Mackay, McMullin and Barowski helped Princeton to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:48.32.
The host Nittany Lions took home the team title with 170.2 points, followed by Cornell (79.5) and Princeton (72) in the top three. Liberty (59) placed fourth in the field of 12 with Buffalo rounding out the top five with 48 points.
