Women's Track & Field Takes Third at Ivy League Indoor Heptagonals

DAY 1 RECAP
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – With a strong Sunday showing, the Princeton University women's track & field team finished third at the 2015 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonals hosted by Harvard University.
Racking up 65 points through 12 events, the Tigers sat tied atop the leaderboard with Harvard and Columbia before ultimately coming in third. The Crimson took home the team title with 125 points, followed by Lions (107) and Tigers (105). Dartmouth finished fourth (85), while Cornell took fifth (75). Yale (50), Penn (38) and Brown (35) rounded out the field.
Turning in a strong showing in the 5000m, Megan Curham and Kathryn Fluehr finished 1-2. The event's runner-up last season, Curham posted a time of 16:01.51 to earn the win. Fluehr clocked in at 16:21.13.
Carrying the conference's best 800m mark into the weekend, Cecilia Barowski picked up the win for the Tigers, rising to the top of the podium and claiming 10 points with a time of 2:06.58.
Setting the pace in the 500m, Kim Mackay clocked in at 1:12.88, beating out Penn's Candace Taylor for the individual title. With the win, Mackay became the first Princeton woman to ever capture the 500m crown at the indoor heptagonals.
Securing two additional points for Princeton in the 400m dash, Jasmine Blocker came in fifth with a time of 55.27. Entering indoor Heps with the fifth-fastest mile time in the conference, Katie Hanss factored into the scoring in Sunday's finals, placing sixth with a time of 4:47.94. Zoe Sims finished fourth in the 1000m with a time of 2:50.28, while Lizzie Bird narrowly missed out on scoring, placing seventh at 2:51.60.
Inka Busack tied for third in the high jump, clearing 1.67m (5-05.75) on her third attempt. Last season, Busack placed second in the event and entered this weekend tied for the second-best mark in the Ivy League at 1.73m.
In the relays, the 4x440 team of Blocker, Elisa Steele, Quinn Parker and Meghan McMullin placed fourth with a time of 3:43.89. The 4x880 squad of Sims, Ashley Forte, Mackay and Barowski was fifth at 9:03.95. The women's DMR of Hanss, Emily Broyles, Rachael Chacko and Emily de La Bruyere also placed fifth (11:46.13).
