Runs were at a premium in both games Wednesday at George Mason as the host Patriots swept a doubleheader from Princeton, 2-1 and 1-0. In the opener, Princeton took the lead in the top of the fourth with a one-out solo home run from Skye Jerpbak, but George Mason answered with two singles and a sacrifice to tie it in the bottom half of the inning. The Patriots scored the go-ahead run on two singles and a walk in the fifth and held off the Tigers from there. Princeton left two runners in scoring position in the opener while pitchers Shanna Christian and Claire Klausner helped strand seven Patriots on second or third to keep the game within reach. In game two, George Mason pitcher Christina Gabriele let just one Tiger as far as second base, coming in the first inning when Rachel Rendina had a leadoff single and advanced to second on a Jerpbak walk. Gabriele retired 18 of the final 19 Tigers she faced, all except for a Cara Worden single in the fifth. Ashley LaGuardia left three Patriots in scoring position in her complete-game effort in the nightcap. |
| Skye Jerpbak homered for the second time this season in Wednesday's first game. It was part of a 2-for-3 opener for the junior. |
