Softball to Wrap Spring Break at Liberty Tournament
March 19, 2015 | Softball
Spring break will come to a close this weekend for the Princeton softball team when the Tigers play in the Liberty Invitational in Virginia.
The Tigers will face Rider, Kent State, Liberty, North Carolina Central and Toledo in the tournament, which will get underway for Princeton Thursday at 1:30 against Rider. Friday's 7:30 p.m. game against Liberty can be watched free online on ESPN3.
Princeton was off for 15 days due to midterms and, at the end of the layoff, rain, before facing Georgetown and George Mason in the D.C. area Tuesday and Wednesday. Princeton took one of the four games with two of the three losses coming by a run each. Of Princeton's 10 losses on the season, five, including five of the last six, have come by a run apiece.
Junior Skye Jerpbak leads the Tigers at the plate with a .361 average, having hit her second home run of the season Wednesday against George Mason. Rookie Ashley LaGuardia has thrown 50 1/3 of the team's 87 innings in the circle and has a 3.34 ERA while appearing in 12 of the team's 14 games.
