Women's Track Wins Nine Events to Win Walt Disney World Open

ORLANDO, Fla. (3/22/15) - The Princeton women's track & field team began the outdoor season during spring break at the Walt Disney World Track & Field Open. The Tigers won the meet with nine event wins.
The Tigers earned major points in the shot put, going 1-2-4-6. Junior Taylor Morgan won the event with a PR of 12.25 (40-2.25) on her third attempt, and after that throw finished for the afternoon. Freshman Kennedy O'Dell who scored in three throwing events, was the runner up with a throw of 12.15 (39-10.50) Junior Brielle Rowe was fourth at 11.86 (38-11) and junior Kerry Krause was sixth at 10.66 (34-11.75).
Rowe went on to win the discus, throwing to 43.67 (143-3) on her second throw of the afternoon. All four of her countable throws would have won her the event, as each was over 42 meters. O'Dell placed third at 38.80 (127-3) on her first attempt.
The defending NCAA hammer throw champion Julia Ratcliffe started her junior season off with a win. She threw to 61.74 (202-7) on her final attempt. She also threw to 59.85m 57.44 and fouled three times. O'Dell earned more points in the throws taking sixth at 45.80 (150-3).
Sophomore Alexandra Lanzafame was third in the long jump at 5.16 (16-11.25). She reached the mark on her third attempt, while also jumping to 5.11 and 5.10. Junior Inka Busack was also a scorer, finishing seventh with a jump of 4.74 (15-6.75) on her first try.
Princeton had the top three collegiate in the 100-meter hurdles, following two unattached competitors. Morgan was third at 15.05, followed by sophomore Allison Harris at 15.06 and Krause at 15.24 as the trio collected 15 points in the event.
Junior Meghan McMullin won the 400-meter hurdles at 1:02.69, more than six seconds ahead of the next hurdler. She was also the top collegiate in the 800 at 2:16.73, to place second overall. The Tigers earned 23 total points in the 800 as junior Maria Seykora was third at 2:17.16, senior Emily Broyles was fourth at 2:20.12 and freshman Melinda Renuart was fifth at 2:20.62.
The distance runners went 1-2-3 in the 10k. Coming off of her indoor All-America honors in the 5k, sophomore Megan Curham won the 10k at 34:07.08. Junior Kathryn Fluehr was second with a PR of 34:30.74 and senior Lindsay Eysenbach was third at 35:46.82.
Sophomore Lizzie Bird and junior Emily de La Bruyere went 1-2 in the steeplechase with just seven tenths separating the two, at 10:24.43 and 10:24.50.
Princeton won the 4x100, 4x200, 4x1500 and was second in the sprint medley relay.
Freshman Quinn Parker, senior Joanna Anyanwu, junior Sara Ronde and senior Emily Easton made up the 4x100 that clocked 48.16. Anyanwu and Parker made up the first and third legs of the 4x200 and were joined by junior Cecilia Barowski and anchor sophomore Elisa Steele. The quartet posted a 1:41.33. Freshman Ashley Forte, sophomore Zoe Sims, junior Kathryn Little and sophomore Lizzie Bird made up the 4x1500 that ran a winning time of 18:41.65. Barowski, senior Kim Mackay, Forte and Steele ran 4:03.78 to take second in the sprint medley.
Princeton will send select competitors to the Monmouth Opener next Saturday, March 28. The home opener is April 3-4, the annual Sam Howell Invitational.
