Softball Changes for Yale-Brown Weekend, Rider Game
March 26, 2015 | Softball
Due to field conditions and weather, the Princeton softball games scheduled for Friday and Saturday against Yale and Brown and Tuesday against Rider have been moved or rescheduled.
Princeton will still face Brown Saturday, but the doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. and will take place at Bordentown Regional High School. The doubleheader against Yale is still scheduled to take place on campus, but will now be played on April 22 with the start time still to be determined. Tuesday's single game against Rider will take place at Rider at 4 p.m.
Princeton enters the Brown doubleheader coming off a loss in its final pre-conference game Wednesday at Monmouth, and the Tigers stand at 7-13 on the season with seven one-run losses. Senior Alyssa Schmidt and junior Emily Viggers are each hitting .300 for Princeton to lead the club, and rookie Ashley LaGuardia has thrown 63 1/3 of the team's 127 innings with a 4-8 record and a 3.09 ERA.
Brown, which wrapped up a trip to California Tuesday, split its Ivy-opening doubleheader at Cornell Friday. Junior Janet Leung leads the Bears at the plate with a .460 average, with two more Brown players, Yeram Park (.353) and Lauren Hanna (.306) also above .300. In the circle, rookie Katie Orona has thrown 43 2/3 of the team's 89 2/3 innings with a 4-2 record and a 2.08 ERA.
Princeton has won the last four games in the series against Brown with the last 17 doubleheaders against the Bears ending as splits or Princeton sweeps.
