No. 10 Women's Water Polo Heads South to Face George Washington

Off to a 4-0 start in CWPA play this season, the Tigers resume league play on Saturday, Mar. 28 against the Colonials in Washington, D.C. Princeton is 42-0 all-time against George Washington, which includes an 11-0 road record.
THE WEEK THAT WAS
• Princeton wrapped up its West Coast swing with four wins at the Loyola Marymount Invitational.
• The Tigers opened Invitational play with a pair of wins over Cal Baptist (W, 11-9) and host LMU (W, 11-6).
• The Orange and Black closed out tournament play with lopsided victories over Concordia (W, 16-5) and Whittier (W, 13-6).
• Leading the Tigers against Cal Baptist, Ashley Hatcher had four goals and two assists. Taylor Dunstan and Pippa Temple each had a pair of scores.
• Against then-No. 12 Loyola Marymount, Hatcher added six more goals, while Jessie Holechek had four goals and two assists.
• Ashleigh Johnson anchored the Tigers' defensive efforts against LMU with 16 saves.
• Nine different Princeton players found the back of the net against Concordia, led by Chelsea Johnson with four goals.
• Morgan Hallock had three goals and an assist, while Helena van Brande made nine saves.
• Temple paced the Tigers' attack against Whittier with four goals. Hatcher chipped in with three assists, while Sydney Saxe nabbed three steals.
REACHING A MILESTONE
• With the win over Whittier, Luis Nicolao recorded his 400th career victory as head coach of the Princeton women's water polo program.
• In 17 seasons, Nicolao has posted a 400-132 overall record (0.752).
• Nicolao has helped guide the Tigers to three CWPA Championships (2000, 2012, 2013).
• Under Nicolao's watch, Princeton has laid claim to nine CWPA Southern titles.
ON A ROLL
• Finding the back of the net in each of her 22 appearances this season, Ashley Hatcher racked up 13 goals and six assists in four games last weekend.
• Netting at least three goals in nine games this season, Hatcher registered a career-high six goals against Loyola Marymount.
• Hatcher currently leads the Tiger offense with 55 goals and a 0.598 shot percentage.
AMONG THE BEST
• With a 21-2 (4-0 CWPA) record, Princeton currently ranks 10th in the latest CWPA Varsity Top-20.
• Princeton is the lone East Coast program in the top-10, joining seven California institutions, No. 6 Hawaii and No. 8 Arizona State.
• The Tigers debuted at No. 10 in the preseason poll before climbing into a tie for ninth in the Week 2 edition.
• Princeton dropped to No. 14 in the Week 4 poll following a loss to Indiana before moving back up three spots to No. 11.
• The Tigers are 6-2 against opponents receiving votes in the varsity top-20 this season having defeated No. 12 Long Beach State (W, 12-7), No. 14 Wagner (W, 9-6), No. 16 Pacific (W, 10-5), No. 9 San Diego St. (W, 6-4), No. 17 Loyola Marymount, and San Diego (W, 10-9).
• Princeton's only setbacks of the year came by way of 9-8 overtime loss to No. 13 Indiana and a 7-6 defeat at the hands of No. 6 Hawaii.
BUILDING A WALL
• Posting a 13-2 overall record this season, Ashleigh Johnson has turned away 172 of the 244 shots she has faced en route to a 0.705 save percentage.
• Johnson has registered double-digit saves in eight of her appearances this season, making a season-high 20 saves against Long Beach State on Feb. 14.
• Johnson has also made 16 saves on five occasions, which includes a 16-save effort against Loyola Marymount on Mar. 20.
• Helena van Brande is 8-0 in her first collegiate season, recording a 0.661 save percentage.
SHARING THE WEALTH
• Each of the Tigers 15 field players have scored a goal this season.
• At least five Princeton players have tallied at least 20 goals, led by Ashley Hatcher with 55 scores.
• In 23 appearances, Jessie Holechek has 39 goals and 25 assists this season.
• Pippa Temple has amassed 25 goals, 18 assists, 11 steals and 21 drawn ejections.
