As Ivy's Top-Ranked Team, Men's Tennis Heads to Brown and Yale
March 31, 2015 | Men's Tennis
When the latest ITA rankings came out Tuesday, Princeton was the top Ivy team on the list, at No. 27.
Now, the Tigers will have the chance to back up that ranking on the court, heading to 62nd-ranked Brown and then to Yale for matches Saturday and Sunday, each starting at 1 p.m.
Princeton has faced 13 ranked opponents among its 20 matches and has won eight of those on the way to a 16-4 overall record. Seven Ivy teams are in the latest ITA rankings, with Columbia at No. 28, Harvard at No. 36, Dartmouth at No. 50, Cornell at No. 55 and Penn at No. 67 along with the Tigers and the Bears.
Tom Colautti and Zack McCourt are ranked 34th on the ITA's doubles list, and another Princeton pair, Alex Day and Ben Tso, have won their last seven matches to be played to completion. Rookies Luke Gamble and Diego Vives have win streaks going in their singles matches, with Gamble having won five straight and Vives has won nine in a row dating back to the fall.
Brown comes into the weekend having won nine in a row since a loss to Princeton at the ECAC Championships in February, while Yale will be looking to snap a two-match skid that came against Utah and St. John's when it hosts Penn Saturday.
Princeton takes a six-match win streak against Brown and a seven-match run against Yale into the weekend, with each last defeating Princeton in 2009.
