Steffensen Named ECAC Rookie of the Week
April 15, 2015 | Women's Tennis
Princeton freshman Katrine Steffensen has been named the Corvias ECAC Rookie of the Week for women's tennis for the Division I Metro/Upstate region. It's the fourth straight week Steffensen has won the honor.
Steffensen helped Princeton to a 2-0 week, getting a win at fourth singles against Harvard in a 5-2 win as Princeton swept two fellow ITA-ranked teams. The wins lifted Princeton 13 spots on the ITA rankings list, now at No. 40 as the Tigers prepare to visit No. 46 Columbia and host No. 75 Cornell Friday and Sunday. Friday's match is a 2 p.m. start in New York and Sunday's senior-day contest is a noon start at the Lenz Tennis Center or in Jadwin Gym if there's inclement weather.
The wins last weekend, coupled with other results around the league, gave Princeton (11-7, 5-0 Ivy) a share of the Ivy League title. The Tigers would gain the outright Ivy title with a win in either match this weekend.
