April 2 TigerCast: Amanda Muliawan and Martin Barakso
April 02, 2015 | General, Heavyweight Rowing, Women's Tennis
As the calendar turns to April and both get into the heart of their Ivy League seasons, juniors Amanda Muliawan (women's tennis) and Martin Barakso (heavyweight rowing) join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Muliawan was a starter on the Ivy League champion women's tennis team last season, a run that started with a comeback from 3-0 down last season at Yale. The Tigers took the final four matches that day, then ran the table in the Ivy League and reached the second round of the NCAA tournament. Muliawan reflected on that journey and talks about this season's championship chase, which includes a home match with that same Yale team this weekend.
Barakso is in his second season as a member of the varsity eight, which returned to the medal stand at Eastern Sprints and placed fourth at the IRA Championships, Princeton's best finish since 2006. The Tigers are currently ranked fourth nationally, though the Top 10 is loaded with Ivy League squads that Princeton will face over the next few weeks. Barakso talks about the development of the program, especially in comparison to the limited amount of competition time, and this weekend's race against a strong Navy squad.
