PRINCETON, N.J. (4/22/15) - The Princeton track and field teams will compete at the 121st running of the Penn Relays Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25 at Franklin Field.
The first event for the women's team will be the college-level discus at 9 a.m., on Thursday while the men's first event will be the championship steeplecase at 7:30 p.m.
Princeton will also compete in at the TCNJ Invitational April 24-25.
Last year at the Penn Relays, Julia Ratcliffe recorded the third-best throw in Penn Relays history to win the hammer throw. Ratcliffe threw to 65.89 (216-2), against three throwers ranked in the top 15 nationally, and reached 65+ meters on three of her attempts.
Lizzie Bird was the top collegiate finisher in a steeplechase race that combined the collegiate and Olympic Development for a total of 24 runners, with a PR of 10:16.47.
Other highlights included: Megan Curham and Kathryn Fluehr PR'ing in the 3k championship, Imani Oliver taking 10th in the championship triple and the 4x800 placing fifth in the Championship of America relay.
The men's performances were accentuated by Damon McLean taking second place in the championship triple jump. He jumped to 16.04 (52-7.5) on his third attempt, and just missed out on the title to Penn State' Steve Waithe who reached 16.22 (53-2.75).
The 4x400 relay clocked its best time of the season to win the Heptagonal, an went on to finishseventh in the IC4A race. The 4x800 was 11th in the Championship of America race.
Additionally, Eddie Owens was fifth in the men's championship steeplechase, as he clocked 8:56.54. Adam Bragg placed seventh in the championship pole vault.
