One Round Into Ivy Championships, Women's Golf Stands Second
April 24, 2015 | Women's Golf
With 36 holes to play at the Ivy League Championship, the Princeton women's golf team is very much in the hunt.
The event will wrap Sunday, and Princeton will begin teeing off at 10:55 a.m. Saturday for the second round.
Columbia finished the first 18 holes at Saucon Valley Country Club's Grace Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania at +24, five shots in front of both Princeton and Yale with Brown in fourth, six shots back. Harvard, at nine shots off the pace, makes five teams within 10 shots of the lead, with Penn and Dartmouth rounding out the field.
Junior Alex Wong and sophomore Hana Ku are the top Tigers chasing medalist honors as two of five players standing at +6, three shots back of leader Christine Kim of Brown. Columbia's Jacqueline Chulya is a shot back of Kim, and Penn's Sophia Chen is two shots back with the quintet of golfers including Wong standing tied for fifth.
Princeton has finished second in each of the last two Ivy Championships. A year ago, with three of the five Tigers who are back this year, Princeton entered the second round in second place, eight shots back of Harvard.
Of the five Tigers in this year's field, none are seniors. Two freshmen (Caroline Araskog and Tenley Shield), two sophomores (Ku and Jordan Lippetz) and junior Wong make up the Tiger contingent.
