Men's Tennis Sweeps Singles to Top Brown
April 04, 2015 | Men's Tennis
Brown took the doubles point to open play Saturday afternoon in Rhode Island, but that didn't stop Princeton from bookending Brown's nine-match winning streak with defeats at the hands of the Tigers, this one by a 6-1 final.
The win lifts 27th-ranked Princeton to 17-4 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy as the Tigers head to Yale for a 1 p.m. match Sunday. Princeton is now 9-4 against ITA-ranked teams this season and has won three straight such matches.
Princeton bounced back from the doubles-point loss to sweep singles play, with Alex Day winning in both singles and doubles play.

Coach Billy Pate on the match: "We continued to demonstrate strong resolve today after dropping a close doubles point and then rebounding to win close first sets in singles. Brown competes hard and came after us, but I was pleased with how we controlled the momentum of the match in singles. Our doubles wasn't as sharp as it has been, so naturally we were a bit disappointed with that. However, to go on the road and win a league match against a solid team is always a plus. We'll look to put forth another focused and positive effort tomorrow at Yale." |
