In Pre-Ivy Finale, Women's Golf Set to Head to Brown Invitational
April 06, 2015 | Women's Golf
Two weeks before the Princeton women's golf team heads to Saucon Valley for the Ivy League's big prize, the Tigers will play in the Brown Invitational, lining up against some of the same league foes they'll see again at month's end.
Along with Princeton and host Brown among Ivies in the event are Dartmouth, Penn and Yale, bringing five of the league's seven women's golf programs together.
Also in the field are Albany, Boston University, Central Connecticut State, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hartford, Hofstra, Holy Cross, Long Island, Quinnipiac, Sacred Heart and Siena, bringing the total to 16 teams for the two-day, 36-hole event Sunday and Monday, April 13-14. Play will begin at 10 a.m. each day at Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, Rhode Island, which will measure 2,935 yards with a par of 71 for the event.
The Tigers have played in two spring tournaments so far, faring well in each. In the spring opener at the Low Country Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Princeton won the team title while sophomore Jordan Lippetz shared medalist honors. Last week at the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational at Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey, Princeton finished second while sophomore Hana Ku tied for runner-up.
Of Princeton's five playing spots at the two tournaments so far this spring, all 10 were non-seniors with seven of those spots going to freshmen or sophomores. Between sophomores Ku and Lippetz and freshman Caroline Araskog, Princeton has earned five top-10 individual finishes at the two tournaments while finishing in the top two as a team each time.
Following the Brown Invitational, the Ivy League Championship will run April 24-26 at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
