Dartmouth, Harvard to Visit Men's Tennis as Ranked Teams Meet
April 08, 2015 | Men's Tennis
Princeton's men's tennis team is 3-0 in the Ivy League, but that perfect start will be on the line as the Ivy season reaches its midway point this weekend.
The 30th-ranked Tigers will host No. 54 Dartmouth Saturday and No. 35 Harvard Sunday for a pair of 1 p.m. matches at the Lenz Tennis Center or in Jadwin Gym if rain intervenes.
Princeton stands at 18-4 overall as one of four teams in program history to win at least 18 matches. The Tigers can tie the program record of 20 wins, set in 1995, with a sweep this weekend.
Dartmouth will come to Princeton looking for its first Ivy League win and looking to break a four-match skid. The Big Green won last year's meeting in Hanover 4-3, but Princeton won the last home match, 5-2 two seasons ago.
The Harvard match will decide the regular-season series between the teams, with the brackets at the ECAC Championship and the San Diego Hilton Mission Valley Spring Classic lining the teams up earlier this season. Harvard won the first meeting 4-2 in an ECAC semifinal, but Princeton won 4-3 in San Diego less than a month ago.
Princeton has compiled a 17-1 singles record over its three Ivy League matches so far, with Zack McCourt at No. 1, Tom Colautti at No. 2, Alex Day at No. 3, Diego Vives at No. 5 and Luke Gamble and Dan Richardson splitting time at No. 6 helping Princeton stay perfect at those positions. Josh Yablon has posted a winning record at No. 4, going 2-1.
This weekend will also put Princeton's perfect home record of 8-0 this season on the line, with Penn's visit two weekends ago as the only ITA-ranked team to face Princeton on campus this season. Princeton's last three home matches of the season figure to feature ranked opponents, with Dartmouth and Harvard ranked this week and Columbia, which has the Ivy's highest ranking at No. 22, coming in next Friday.
