Incoming Wrestling Class Ranked 15th Nationally, Tops Within The Ivy League
May 06, 2015 | Wrestling
Head coach Chris Ayres was excited to talk about his incoming class of recruits, but apparently others share his optimism about that group. InterMat came out with its incoming recruiting class rankings, and Princeton was picked 15th nationally. No other Ivy League school was in the Top 25, and Lehigh was the only EIWA ranked above the Tigers.
The group is led by Matthew Kolodzik, ranked first overall at 138 and ninth nationally among all members of the high school class. Princeton is also bringing in three wrestlers ranked in the Top 20 at their respective weight by InterMat: Mike D'Angelo (16th, 138), Patrick D'Arcy (16th, 126), and Joe Tavoso (14th, 152).
You can read about the full incoming class here.
Princeton also returns five NCAA qualifiers from last season, including EIWA finalists Jordan Laster and Chris Perez, as well as two-time NCAA qualifier Abram Ayala. Princeton also had its first Ivy League Rookie of the Year this season in Jonathan Schleifer, who joined sophomore Brett Harner as at-large qualifiers for NCAAs.
