PRINCETON, N.J. (9/24/15) - The Princeton men's soccer team takes to the road again this weekend, as it faces Binghamton on Saturday, Sept. 26. Game time is at 7 p.m.
Princeton and Binghamton met for the first time last year with the Tigers winnning 2-0. Both goals came via throw-ins in the second half, with Thomas Sanner scoring the first in the 64th minute and Nico Hurtado the second in the 81st minute. Cameron Porter assisted on both goals, while Ben Hummel earned his third shutout of the season.
The Tigers are 2-2 on the season, winning their home opener over Boston University 2-1 a week ago Saturday. The first three games of the season were on the road. Sanner sits atop the scoring column with two goals and two assists for six points. Hurtado has one goal and a team-best three assists for five points. Senior defender Josh Miller has scored twice, while senior Brendan McSherry and sophomore Nicholas Badalamenti have three points on a goal and an assist each. Hummel is 2-2 with a 2.11 goals against average and a .562 save percentage.
Binghamton heads into the weekend with a 5-3 overall record after a 3-1 loss at Syracuse on Tuesday night. The Bearcats are undefeated, 3-0, at home this season with wins over Manhttan, St. Peter's and Siena - all one-goal games. Binghamton averages and allows an indential 1.12 goals per game, while allowing nearly two more shot attempts and corner kicks per game. The team also averages two yellow cards per game, while drawing less than half of that with seven. Pascal Trappe and Zach Galluzzo lead the team offensively with five points on two goals and one assist apiece. Kristian Piippo and Tucker Sandercock have and goal and an assist, while Logan Robert has a team-high three assists. Robert Moewes has played every minute in goal and has a .809 save percentage and the 1.12 GAA.
