No. 11 Men's Water Polo Outlasts Johns Hopkins in Overtime, 17-15

PRINCETON, N.J. – Erasing a two-goal deficit in the fourth quarter, the 11th-ranked Princeton University men's water polo team improved to 8-3 on the season with a thrilling 17-15 overtime victory over Johns Hopkins University.
Picking up a win in their Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division opener, the Tigers return to action on Sunday, Sept. 27 against George Washington. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
With Princeton down 12-10 entering the final period, Thomas Nelson netted a pair of goals just 44 seconds apart to pull the Orange and Black even. After a Johns Hopkins goal at 2:11, Nelson came right back, netting the equalizer just 14 seconds later to make it 13-13. Michael Swart momentarily put Princeton ahead at the 1:17 mark, but a Blue Jays' goal with just two seconds on the clock sent the game into overtime.
With each team netting a goal in the first extra session, Princeton pulled away with a pair of scores in the second OT. Jordan Colina notched the go-ahead goal at the 2:25 mark before putting in another score at 1:32 to make it 17-15.
Nelson matched a career-high with six goals, while also collecting three steals and three drawn ejections. Colina had four goals and a career-high seven steals, while Ryan Wilson and Connor McGoldrick each had a pair of goals. Swart finished with a goal and four assists, while Jamie Kuprenas and Jovan Jeremic accounted for the Tigers' other two tallies. Vojislav Mitrovic made 13 saves.
