No. 27 Arizona State Deals Women's Tennis Season's First Defeat
January 28, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Two seasons after the Princeton women's tennis team ended Arizona State's season in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Alabama, the Sun Devils evened the score early in the new campaign.
No. 27 ASU picked up a 6-1 win over the 43rd-ranked Tigers in Tempe, Ariz., Thursday, handing Princeton its first defeat of the dual-match season after sweeps of Delaware and Grand Canyon. The Tigers will look to end the three-match trip out West on an up note when they travel to No. 65 Arizona Friday.
After taking the doubles point, Arizona State took a 3-0 lead with wins on courts one and four before Alanna Wolff got Princeton on the board with her win at sixth. ASU, however, took the last three singles matches to make the 6-1 final.
The Princeton-Arizona match will get started at 4 p.m. ET Friday.
