BOX SCORE
PRINCETON, N.J. (1/7/16) - Freshman Max Véronneau had his first career three-point evening, scoring twice and adding one assist as Princeton skated to a 3-3 tie with No. 20 Rensselaer on a rare Thursday night game at Hobey Baker Rink.
Rensselaer (11-7-4, 4-1-4 ECAC) broke through with 1:50 remaining in the first period. A shot taken by Chris Bradley rebounded out to the boards where Jesper Ohrvall and Viktor Lijegren played catch along the wall. Lijegren took a shot from between the tops of the circles and Ohrvall took advantage of the loose puck in front of the net.
Princeton (4-12-1, 3-7-1 ECAC) had some quality scoring chances in the first period but it would be a power play goal at 15:54 of the second that put the Tigers on the board. Senior Mike Ambrosia scored his second goal in second straight game on a feed from Veronneau. A turnover led to Veronneau bringing the puck into the zone, where he circled to the left side before delivering a cross-ice pass to Ambrosia at the right point.

Véronneau gave Princeton the 2-1 lead at 5:11, but it was evaporated with a RPI power-play goal at 6:12.
Véronneau received a pass from classmate Ryan Kuffner, skated down the center of the ice and beat Jason Kasdorf on the blocker for the 4x4 goal, as both teams took hitting after the whistle penalties.

A Tommy Davis roughing penalty just seven seconds after Princeton's goal gave the Engineers the extra skater and then the game-tying goal.
Jared Wilson went high glove side with a shot from the top of the slot after getting the puck from Jimmy DeVito on the left side boards. Riley Bourbonnais earned the secondary assist.
Veronneau regained the lead for the Tigers at 10:48 with a one-timer. It was pretty play set up by the rookies, as Ryan Kuffner won the puck in the corner, fed Alex Riche down low and he backhanded a pass to Veronneau.

The game-tying goal came at 16:42 by Bourbonnais. Zach Schroeder appeared to be offsides on the goal but since Princeton had already used its timeout, the coaches challenge could not be used. Lou Nanne got the puck down the right wall to the offsides Schroeder, who faked a shot and set up Bourbonnais for the back door. (See Vine video here)
Junior netminder Colton Phinney made 36 saves in net to earn the third star of the night. Here is one of his 10 in the first period, winning a one-on-one battle.

Kasdorf finished the game with 20 stops as Rensselaer had a 39-23 edge in shots on goal.
Both teams were 1 for 3 on the power play.
Princeton will take on Union tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The Dutchmen dropped a 5-0 game at Quinnipiac this evening.
