Tigers Advance Two Doubles Pairs Saturday at ITA Regional
October 22, 2016 | Men's Tennis
Two doubles pairs from the Princeton men's tennis team won their matches Saturday to advance to the Round of 16 at the ITA Northeast Regional at Penn.
Tom Colautti and Payton Holden picked up an 8-3 win over Andre Crapcenco and Roberto Livi from St. John's, and top-seeded Alex Day and Luke Gamble won 8-7 over Villhelm Fridell and Filip Grbic of Buffalo to advance.
Princeton got Colautti and Day to the Round of 32 in the singles competition before each fell in a three-set match Saturday.
"Truthfully, it was a disappointing outcome today in singles as we had some opportunities to advance and didn't seize them," Princeton head coach Billy Pate said. "It will be a point of focus going forward in terms of being consistent throughout three-set matches and finishing the right way. Nonetheless, we had some solid performances today and look forward to focusing on those two teams putting forth a great effort tomorrow."
Sunday's play will begin at 9 a.m. with two rounds of doubles set to be held. Updated draws can be found here.
