Barba & Pothuri Named Academic All-District

PRINCETON, N.J. (10/28/16) - Seniors Patrick Barba and Vikram Pothuri of the Princeton men's soccer team have been named Academic All-District® Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
This is the first time the Tigers have had two players earned first-team honors in the same season.
An ecology and evolutionary biology major, Barba was one three defenders selected from District 2. The team captain has started in every game this season and has six points as the team's center back. He scored the game-winning goal over Fairleigh Dickinson and had an assist in a tie with Dartmouth. Barba's best offense game was a three-point game against Harvard, when he scored and added one assist. He has helped to force opponents into putting just 37 percent of its shots on target (72 of 190). As a junior, Barba was named first-team All-Ivy League and Academic All-Ivy League as a junior.
A molecular biology major, Pothuri was one of three midfielders selected from District 2. He ranks third on the team in scoring with seven points, scoring twice and addeing three assists. He scored on his only shot on goal in a 2-1 win over Boston University in an ESPNU game, and on his only shot in a win over Rutgers. Additionally he had assists against St. John's, Dartmouth and Harvard. Pothuri was an Academic All-Ivy League selection in 2015.
Princeton continues the Ivy League season this Saturday when it travels to Cornell.
