Tigers Rally to beat U.S. U-18s 5-4 in OT
October 29, 2016 | Men's Ice Hockey
The last four goals of the night went to Princeton, and the Tigers rallied to beat the U.S. Under-18 team 5-4 in overtime in an exhibition in Plymouth, Mich.
The U-18s had a 3-0 lead after a period and until rookie Jackson Cressey scored two minutes into the middle frame to get the Tigers on the board. The U-18s answered with a goal midway through the period, and after two, the three-goal lead remained, now at 4-1.
To close the deficit, Princeton got goals from Alex Riche and Cressey to get within a goal, but the U-18s still lead 4-3 into the final minute. Tommy Davis scored with just 13 seconds left to tie it, and midway through the five-minute overtime, Eric Robinson had the winner.
While Riche's and Cressey's second goals were on the man advantage, Princeton killed all six U-18 power plays, and Colton Phinney made 30 stops to get the win.
With the win, Princeton splits the trip after Friday night's loss at Michigan State. Princeton will head to northern New York to face St. Lawrence and Clarkson next Friday and Saturday nights.
