Women's Tennis to Host Kentucky, Rutgers This Weekend

A ranked opponent and a regional rival will head to Jadwin Gym this weekend to take on the Princeton women's tennis team.

Kentucky, ranked 22nd in the nation, will face the Tigers Friday at 2 with Rutgers coming in to take on the 54th-ranked Tigers Saturday at noon.

Borh matches can be video streamed live on the Ivy League Digital Network.

While Princeton has a long history with Rutgers, with Saturday's match as the programs' 37th meeting since the series began in 1975, Friday's match will be just the third between the Tigers and the Wildcats, with the other two happening in the 1980s.

Kentucky enters with a 4-1 record behind its high national ranking, and Princeton will be the second of three Ivy teams on the docket for the Wildcats. Kentucky opened its dual-match season with a win over current No. 42 Dartmouth at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend before falling to current No. 8 Michigan in Kentucky's only loss to this point. The Wildcats have one other win over a current ITA-ranked opponent this season, defeating No. 52 Illinois in their last match this past Saturday. Kentucky's trip will include a stop at Columbia Sunday.

Rutgers is 1-1 with a 6-1 loss to Princeton's Ivy rival Penn on Jan. 31 and a 4-3 win over Binghamton last Friday. Princeton has faced the Scarlet Knights every year since 1981 and has won 19 straight times, with Rutgers' last win coming in 1996.
