Dudas Earns Ivy Fencing Coaching Honor, 11 Earn All-Ivy
February 10, 2016 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
Princeton fencing coach Zoltan Dudas was named the Ivy League Coach of the Year for women's fencing.
Dudas and junior Alex House, who earned men's épée champion honors for the second year in a row, headlined the Princeton contingent when the Ivy League announced its annual fencing honors Wednesday.
Dudas was the women's co-winner last year, the first year of the award. This time, he guided both the men's and women's teams to shared Ivy titles, the 15th for the men and first since 2012, and the ninth for the women and first since 2014.
Dudas is already the all-time winningest coach in women's program history, racking up 212 dual-match wins in his nine-plus seasons, and his 175 wins put him third on the men's side behind Stan Sieja (258, 1946-82) and Michel Sebastiani (213, 1982-2006).
Princeton had six of the 11 first-team women's honorees, including senior saber Gracie Stone, freshman saber Sage Palmedo, junior foil Ashley Tsue, junior épée Audrey Abend, freshman épée Charlene Liu and senior épée Isabel Ford. Sophomore saber Allison Lee earned second-team honors.
House represented Princeton on the men's first team, while junior saber Peter Pak, sophomore foil Thomas Dudey and freshman épée Wesley Johnson were second-teamers.
Below is a list of Princeton's honorees and their previous recognitions. The Ivy League's announcement can be found here for the men and here for the women.
