Fencers Set for Ivy League Round-Robins at Cornell
February 04, 2016 | Men's Fencing, Women's Fencing
A year ago at the Ivy League Round-Robins, the Princeton fencing teams posted upper-division finishes, with the women tying for second and the men for third as Columbia won both league titles, sharing the men's with Harvard.
This year, the Tigers will be back, aiming for the top once again, with an eye on the women starting a new streak after their five-year title run ended last year and the men looking for their first since 2012.
The schedule has the Tigers as the last team to hit the strip, with both Princeton teams facing Columbia Saturday at 1:15 p.m., then Harvard at 2:45 and Penn at 4:15. Sunday, Princeton will return for 10 a.m. bouts against Brown, 11:30 bouts against Yale and finally 1:45 p.m. bouts against Cornell for the women only.
Princeton returns two of its four women to earn All-Ivy League honors a year ago in second-team saber Desirae Major and second-team épée Isabel Ford, while the men bring back first-team épée Alex House, second-team foil Thomas Dudey and second-team épée Jack Hudson.
