Princeton kept pace in the Ivy League men's basketball race with an 83-62 win over Harvard Friday night in Jadwin Gym.
Steven Cook had a season-high 21 points to lead all scorers as one of four Tigers in double figures alongside Henry Caruso (19), Devin Cannady (14) and Spencer Weisz (13). Princeton shot 51.6 percent from the field on the night and canned 12 3-pointers.
The Tigers led nearly start to finish, answering an early 4-3 Crimson lead with a 22-2 run over seven-plus minutes to take ad 25-6 lead just past the midway point of the opening half, taking its largest lead of the game's first 20 minutes.
Harvard got no closer than 10 points after the break, when a 3-pointer by Tommy McCarthy pulled the Crimson within 50-40 with 13-plus minutes to go. The Tigers responded with 16-2 run toward the midway point of the second half and never looked back, leading by as many as 26 points.
With Yale's win over Columbia earlier Friday night, the Tigers stayed one game back of the Bulldogs in the loss column while the Lions fell even with Princeton there at 4-1. The Tigers will face Columbia next Saturday in New York, but not before Princeton hosts Dartmouth Saturday night at 6 and the Tigers make a trip to Ithaca next Friday to face Cornell.
Saturday's game will be video streamed on the Ivy League Digital Network as well as on ESPN3.com.
