Another night, another double-digit victory for the Princeton men's basketball team as the status quo reigned atop the Ivy League.
With Yale (6-0 Ivy), Columbia (5-1 Ivy) and Princeton (4-1 Ivy) all winners, the Bulldogs retained their one-game lead over Columbia and game-and-a-half edge over Princeton. The Tigers will head to Cornell and Columbia next weekend with Yale visiting Dartmouth and Harvard.
For the second time in as many nights, junior Steven Cook upped his season-best scoring total, putting in a game-high 27 points, one off his career best, after scoring 21 against Harvard last night. Princeton outshot the Big Green 53.8 percent to 37.3 percent on the night.
The game was headed for a blowout early, with Princeton making 8 of its first 9 3-point tries on the way to a lead that grew as large as 23 at 46-23 with less than five minutes to go before the half. Momentum turned right then, with the Big Green closing the half on a 12-0 run including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Evan Boudreaux to send Dartmouth into the locker room trailing by 11 at 46-35.
Dartmouth extended the run to 16-0 before the Tigers stopped it there, and Princeton's edge bounced around the 10-point mark for most of the rest of the way. Princeton kept Dartmouth off the board for the game's last three minutes, closing the night on a 6-0 run to make the 83-70 final.
Princeton's game Friday at Cornell will tip at 6 p.m. and can be seen both on the Ivy League Digital Network online and on the American Sports Network. TV outlets showing the ASN broadcast will be released this week.
