Women's Tennis Advances to Sunday at ECAC, Tops Cornell
February 06, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Looking to bounce back from Friday's ECAC Championship first-round defeat against Harvard, Princeton earned the chance to advance to Sunday's consolation final with a 4-1 win over Cornell Saturday morning in New Hampshire.
With seven teams in the bracket, the loser of Saturday's Princeton-Cornell match would wrap its ECAC participation, but the Tigers will continue Sunday at 9 a.m. against Yale.
Princeton rebounded from a doubles-point loss to take the first four singles contests to be decided, with Caroline Joyce winning in both singles and doubles. Her match tied the team score at 1-1, with wins from Katrine Steffensen, Amanda Muliawan and finally Emily Hahn clinching the match.
Muliawan knocked off 74th-ranked Marika Cusick in her win at first singles, her first victory of the spring over a ranked opponent in three tries. She had two wins over ITA-ranked opponents in six tries in the fall.
