The Class of 1999 Cup: Radcliffe

Radcliffe Reclaims Class Of 1999 Cup, Tops Women's Lightweights In Opener
March 26, 2016 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The Radcliffe women's lightweight rowing team opened its 2016 season in impressive style, topping Princeton by 17 seconds to reclaim the Class of 1999 Cup on Lake Carnegie Saturday morning.
The win returns the Class of 1999 Cup back to Boston after Princeton's upset victory on the Charles River last year. The Tigers still maintain a 13-4 lead in the all-time series, though the Crimson have taken three of the last five races.Radcliffe was unbeaten during the morning. The varsity eight won in 6:55, while Princeton took second in 7:12. The Radcliffe 2V posted a winning time of 7:02, while the Tigers followed in 7:12. The 3V won in 7:32.3, while Princeton finished in 7:44.4.
"We've seen that the standard in the league is very high," head coach Paul Rassam said. "I don't anticipate BU or Stanford being any slower than what we saw from Radcliffe today. We will continue to work towards closing the gap. Our athletes are giving everything they've got towards that goal."
Princeton will return to the water next weekend when it heads to California for the annual San Diego Crew Classic. The Tigers will face reigning IRA champion Stanford during the event.
