Barowski Qualifies for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS (3/3/15) - Senior Cecilia Barowski has been selected to compete in the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship, it was announced by the committee on Tuesday.
Barowski is one of 16 athletes nationwide that will run in the women's 800 meters.
The championships will be held March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham CrossPlex hosted by Samford University.The semifinals of the 800 will be at 8:35 p.m., (ET) on Friday, March 11, with the top eight advancing to the final on Saturday at 6:40 p.m.
ESPN3 will stream the meet live on Friday starting at 6:25 p.m. (ET), and Saturday at 4:55 p.m. (ET). A tape delay will air on Sunday, March 20 on ESPNU at 5:30 p.m.
Barowski qualified for the event with a time of 2:03.24 run at the Princeton Invite on Feb. 21. It is the third fastest time run by a collegiate this season. Barowski has a PR of 2:02.14 in the event, which she ran in 2014 at a race in Sacramento. She is coming off of an Ivy League Heptagonal title in the 500 from last weekend.
This is Barowski's first time competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She has competed in NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2015 in the same event and was also a Regional qualifier in 2013. She earned honorable mention All-America honors last spring for her 19th-place finish at Outdoors.
Barowski becomes the first Princeton Tiger to compete in this event at the NCAA Championships, and the 14th athlete from the program to compete in the championships.
Six of the 16 that raced last year return including Olicia Williams (Baylor) who finished third, Hanna Green (Va Tech) who was fifth and Brooke Feldmeier (Oregon) who took eighth. The top time in the country belongs to Oregon's Raevyn Rogers at 2:00.90. Georgetown's Sabrina Southerland follows at 2:03.10, then Barowski.
A familiar name will join Barowski in Birmingham - Jasmine Blocker. The 2015 Princeton graduate who is exhuasting her eligibility at Tulane has qualified in the 400.
