BOX SCORE
PRINCETON, N.J. (4/20/16) - No. 17 Penn delivered No. 10 Princeton its first Ivy League loss of the season in a 12-7 game on Wednesday night.
Princeton, Penn and Cornell are now all tied in the Ivy League standings with matching 4-1 records.
Nina Corcoran had a seven-point night with two goals and five assists to pace the Quaker offense.
Penn jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first six minutes with two unassisted Corcoran goals, a Caroline Cummings goal and a free-position marker from Alex Condon, who finished the night with a hat trick.
A 3-1 run by the Tigers cut it back to 5-3 as sophomore Abby Finkelston, senior Anya Gersoff and junior Olivia Hompe each scored. The two-goal deficit would be as close as Princeton would get as Penn added two more goals to give itself a 7-3 lead at the intermission.
The teams traded two goals apiece to begin the second half before Penn tacked on one more to make it 10-5. An 18:51 scoring drought followed before the next goal would be scored, a Condon tally at 9:44.
Sophomore Camille Sullivan scored an unassisted goal as she worked her way around the fan and then fed freshman Kathryn Hallett in a score in transition to make it 11-7 with 1:31.
Penn won the ensuing draw and had one last strike with a Condon goal with 32.1 seconds remaining.
Turnovers kept Princeton from climbing back in the game as it had a total of 15, with nine being unforced. Princeton won three more draws, 12-9, while Penn had three more ground balls 16-13. Penn had a 29-18 edge in shots after a 20-9 differential in the first half followed by an even 9-9 second half.
Britt Brown made six saves in net for Penn, while junior Ellie DeGarmo stopped nine shots.
The loss snaps Princeton's 17-game Ivy League winning streak that dates back to March 8, 2014.
The Tigers look to rebound on Saturday, April 23 when they travel to Columbia for a noon game.
