Dartmouth, Harvard to Visit Women's Tennis in First Ivy Home Weekend

The Ivy League women's tennis standings have Princeton a match behind Columbia and even with four other teams in the loss column, with one defeat for the Tigers and Dartmouth, plus Brown and Yale.

Harvard (and Penn and Cornell) have just two losses. The Big Green and the Crimson will come to Princeton this weekend for the second full weekend of Ivy play, and the Ivy title picture will be much clearer Sunday night than Saturday morning.

With that as the background, the two-time defending Ivy champion Tigers will host Dartmouth and Harvard Saturday and Sunday for 1 p.m. matches each day, outside at the Lenz Tennis Center if weather permits or inside in Jadwin Gym if not.

The Tigers are coming off a split weekend trip to Southern New England, with a 4-3 loss at Brown before a 5-2 win at Yale. Then ranked 59th, the Tigers were at No. 61 in the ITA rankings that came out Tuesday, and Princeton's two opponents this weekend are in their neighborhood on that list. Dartmouth is at No. 52 and Harvard No. 63.

Princeton has swept the Dartmouth-Harvard weekend in each of the last two years and has swept each of the last four Dartmouth-Harvard home weekends, through 2008. The Tigers have won 11 straight home matches against the Big Green, with Dartmouth's last win at Princeton coming in 1992. Harvard last won in Princeton in 2006, and the Tigers have taken the last four visits from the Crimson.

The home weekend includes the first two of three consecutive home matches, all against ITA-ranked competition. Seven of the eight Ivy programs are in the ITA's latest top 75, including No. 33 Columbia, Dartmouth at No. 52, the Tigers at No. 61, Harvard at No. 63, No. 67 Brown, No. 71 Cornell and No. 74 Penn.
