Eight from Women's Track & Team Earn Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS (7/29/16) - Eight members of the Princeton women's track & field team have been named All-Academic it was announced by U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The team itself was also honored, earning UFTFCCCA All-Academic team accolades, after qualifying with a cumulative GPA of 3.46.
Lizzie Bird, Emily de La Bruyere, Kathryn Fluehr, Ashley Forte, Katie Hanss, Kerry Krause, Ally Markovich and Kennedy O'Dell all earned individual All-Academic honors.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds), or for multi-events finished in the top 48 in the region.
de La Bruyere earned the honors every single year she was a student-athlete at Princeton, as she graduated in May. She qualifed for the NCAA regional in both the steeplechase and the 5k. de La Bruyere posted a PR of 10:06.26 in the steeple at the Larry Ellis Invite and was the runner-up at Heps. She ran her best 5k time of the season at Stanford, at 16:04.19.
Bird captures her third academic honor of her career. Indoor she ranked 31st in the mile at 4:39.32, 41st in the 3,000 at 9:18.42 and qualified for the NCAA regional in the steeplechase with a 10:10.28.
Fluehr nabbed her second academic honor qualifying for the regional in the 10k. She was the Heps 10k runner-up and ran a PR of 34:29.59 this season.
Hanss earned her second academic honor as well. The middle distance runner was 96th indoors in the 800 at 2:09.26 and ran a 4:22.63 in the 1500 at the Larry Ellis Invite to qualify for the NCAA Regional. She was a member of the 4x800 relay that finished second at outdoor Heps along with Forte.
Forte ranked 78th in the indoor 800 (2:0867) and competed in the regional where she posted a PR of 2:07.64.
Multi-eventer Krause qualified as she finished the outdoor season ranked 23rd in the heptathlon.
Markovich was the third Tiger that qualified as a steeplechaser. She posted a PR of 10:26.24 at Larry Ellis this season to qualify for the regional.
Hammer throw champion O'Dell threw a PR of 56.81 at ECACs a week after claiming the Heps title. She competed in her first regional throwing 52. 66.
