PRINCETON, N.J. (9/11/16) - The Princeton men's soccer team continues its three game homestand on Tuesday night when it takes on Rider at 7 p.m., on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Just eight miles separate the two Universities who have met 19 times - the first being in 1941. Princeton holds a dominant 13-3-3 record in the all-time series including a 3-1 in the last meeting at the Princeton Invitational in 2012.
Princeton is looking to rebound from a 3-1 loss to St. John's from last Thursday. The Tigers took the lead in the first two minutes on a goal from junior Harry Heffernan. Sophomore Jeremy Colvin had the ball on the left flank and sent it to midfielder Brian Costa who fed it to Vikram Pothuri who used a nasty toe flick to get it to Heffernan in the right side of the box for the strike in his first start. Colvin has taken the most attempts on goal with six shots to his credit. Senior Josh Haberman has a 2.00 goals against average and a .600 save percentage stopping six of 10 shots on goal.
Rider is undefeated at 4-0 and coming off of a 2-0 shutout of Temple from Saturday night. The squad as posted three shutouts and has allowed just one goal, in a 2-1 win over Villanova in the season opener, a win in extra time.
