No. 11 Men's Water Polo Drops Heartbreaker to No. 6 UC-Santa Barbara, 12-11

LOS ANGELES – The No. 11 Princeton men's water polo team rallied to send its match into triple overtime, but the No. 6 UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos won the thrilling contest, 12-11, at the Spieker Aquatics Complex on Friday evening.
Senior Jovan Jeremic scored the game-tying goal with 54 seconds to go in regulation to send the game into overtime. The two teams didn't score in the first two overtimes before the Gauchos scored with one minute left in the sudden death third overtime.
Tied at five in the third stanza, UC-Santa Barbara scored three of the next four goals to take a 9-6 advantage with 7:38 left in the game. The Tigers got within one at 9-8, but the Gauchos scored back-to-back tallies to take an 11-8 lead as the clock ticked under four and half minutes.
Two tallies by sophomore Matt Payne got Princeton within one before Jeremic's tying goal. Payne finished with four tallies to lead the Tigers. Sophomore Ryan Wilson and junior Jordan Colina each had two goals.
With the loss, the Tigers fall to 6-3 on the season. Princeton will now face Whittier tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. at Northgate High School.
