Trip to Penn's Leary Invite Up Next for Princeton
September 28, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Cissie Leary Invitational Draws & Friday Order of Play
A visit to Penn's Cissie Leary Invitational is up next for the Princeton women's tennis team, Friday through Sunday in Philadelphia.
Sara Goodwin, Sivan Krems, Catalina Vives and Alanna Wolff will represent Princeton at the tournament. All except Wolff last competed at the season-opening Princeton Invitational, and this weekend will be Wolff's first matches of the fall.
The event will consist of three singles draws, two of 32 players and one of 16, and two doubles draws, one of 16 pairs and one of 32. Play will start at 9 a.m. on all three days with two rounds apiece of singles and doubles Friday, another round of singles and the completion of doubles Saturday, and the last two rounds of singles Sunday.
Along with Princeton and Penn, Columbia, Cornell, Delaware, Drexel, Maryland, Penn State, St. John's, Temple, William & Mary and Yale will be sending players to the event.
The Leary Invite has been on Princeton's schedule annually since 2013. Last year, Katrine Steffensen was the last Tiger standing in a main draw, advancing to the "A" flight final.
This year, the event is the third tournament on Princeton's fall schedule. The Tigers opened with the Princeton Invitational, squaring off against players from Temple and Cornell, and last weekend, Princeton headed to North Carolina State for an event that featured matches against players from the host team, Mississippi, and Oklahoma.
Following the trip to Penn, the Tigers will be away from competition next weekend before heading to the Michigan Invitational beginning Oct. 14 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
