No. 11 Men's Water Polo Cruises To Three Wins at Navy Open

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 11 Princeton men's water polo team started off the 2016 campaign with three straight wins at the Navy Open on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers defeated Fordham in the first match of the day, 17-10, before following that with a 20-2 victory over Penn State Behrend and 18-6 win over McKendree University. Since McKendree is a club team, that win will not count towards Princeton's overall record. The Tigers finishes the Navy Open against Salem International tomorrow at 9:20 a.m.

Junior Jordan Colina paced the Tigers' offense with five goals, one shy of his career high. Sophomore Matt Payne threw four in the back of the net while freshmen Sean Duncan and Logan MacDonell posted two tallies each in their collegiate debuts. Sophomore Ryan Wilson scored twice and dished out five assists. Sophomore Ryan Melosini made 10 saves in the win.
The men's water polo team started offensively with force, collecting eight first half goals, taking a five-goal lead into the intermission. After an evenly matched third quarter, Princeton put the contest away with four goals over the final six minutes to nab the victory.

11 different Tigers scored as head coach Luis Nicolao's squad cruised to a decisive win. Duncan led the team with four goals while junior Eric Bowen and freshman Christopher Xi snagged a hat trick. Defensively, the Tigers stole 23 passes and didn't allow a goal until fourth quarter.

The walk-on freshman made three saves in the first stanza and finished with eight total, scoring his first collegiate victory.
