Nixon Leads Princeton Fencers at October North American Cup Event in California

Sophomore Kasia Nixon finished fifth of 164 women's épées to lead all Princeton fencers current and former at the October North American Cup event that wrapped up Monday in Anaheim, Calif.
Nixon went 6-0 in her pool bouts while Holmes went 5-1, and Nixon went on to win her first three direct elimination bouts before running into two-time NCAA champion Courtney Hurley in the quarterfinals with Hurley emerging with a 15-7 win. Holmes won her first two direct elimination bouts before meeting Kelley Hurley, Courtney's sister and the winner of one NCAA épée title, in the round of 16 with Hurley winning 15-13.
In the women's saber competition, Gracie Stone '16 finished 14th of 131 while sophomore Maia Chamberlain took 17th in the event.
